The estate
Covering 4,9 hectares of the 660 hectares of the Moulin-à-Vent appellation, the vines are ideally located at the heart of the Rochegrès single vineyard where, as its name suggests, the granitic parent rock (roche) is visible at the surface of the soil amid the rows of vines. This exceptional and distinctive location uncontestably defines the profile of these structured, fleshy wines that boast an impressive range of floral aromas.
The wines
Rochegrès Moulin-à-Vent
Our 2.2-hectare plot is planted with very old vines (80 to 100 years old) that are exclusively located at the heart of the Rochegrès single vineyard. In this lean soil composed of very pure granite, the roots must plunge deep down in order to find the nutrients they need. This lends added complexity and body to the wine.
This perfectly balanced wine boasts notes of very ripe red berries that open up to floral then spicy notes with a finish reminiscent of forest undergrowth. It is dense and mineral. Judicious barrel ageing (60% in 350-litre barrels) allows the terroir to shine through.
Moulin-à-Vent
Unlike the Rochegrès cuvée, this Moulin-à-Vent is vinified with grapes grown on the younger vines, which cover a total surface area of 3 hectares.
Flowery and delectable, this wine is redolent of notes of rose and dark berries on the nose. This wine boasts all of the elegance and minerality of its granitic terroirs along with full-bodiedness and depth.
