Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Crots"
Situation
Côte de Nuits
Level
AOC Premier Cru
Grape variety
Pinot noir
The Nuits-Saint-Georges AOC covers two communes: Nuits-Saint-Georges and Prémeaux-Prissey in the direction of Beaune. Nuits-Saint-Georges has given its name to the Côte de Nuits and is almost exclusively dedicated to the production of red wines made from Pinot Noir grapes. The diversity of exposure and soil types between the vineyards located to the south and to the north of Nuits-Saint-Georges result in considerably diverse wines. “Les Crots” is located in the southern part of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The name, "Les Crots" (a dialectal variant of “creux” meaning "hollow"), refers to the relief of this very steep slope whose counter-slope forms a large hollow.
